Crossed Fingers 2012

In July 2010, a UK fingerboarder and admin of the FBHQ forum created a website called "UniteFingerboarding". To this day, it gets thousands of views per day, and is practically the central hub for all fingerboarding news, information, and much more. In 2012, Kerry launched his UK-based fingerboarding webshop, Fingersized. Then, Kerry announced his first ever event, Crossed Fingers. On October 27th 2012, Crossed Fingers happened... And it was AWESOME! Here's Cyclone Media's personal documentation of the first ever UK fingerboarding championship, hosted by UK fingerboarding guru Kerry Williams!

October 26th 2012 - Joined by Tom Colbert and Callum Smethurst, we patiently waited for a response from Danny Hynam and Xi Jin, the people that would be transporting us to the event. We had decided a while back to go the day before, as Kerry had offered to let us stay at his place. After hours of delays, Xi arrived and we all got in the car. And so began the 3 and a half hour trip that eventually led us to arrive at Kerry's flat! A couple of hours of hardcore seshing and greeting, and we headed for bed, prepared for the big day ahead.

October 27th 2012 - Event day! After a short 5 hour sleep to wake up at 7am, we eventually managed to get everyone up and loaded all the parks into the cars, ready to set off to the venue at about half 8. We only just managed, blame Thom for not letting me set my alarm! When we arrived at the venue, It was a case of getting everything ready for people arriving. We got all the parks in, all the directions out, and all the posters posted. We had a quick little sesh before getting some breakfast!

We were a little delayed past the initial 10am starting time. Loads of kids turned up to the event incredibly early, and it felt terrible having to make them stand outside the venue in the extremely cold British weather! But after about half an hour over the scheduled time for the beginning, we started letting people in. Nobody complained, and it helped us be more prepared for the next event, so the delay wasn't to severe! This is where the action started.

There was plenty of filming, seshing, photo-taking, and meeting friends, both old and new. There were raffles, prize-tosses, and a huge championship. This was truly a day that will go down in both UK fingerboarding history, but also a huge mark in the entire global scene. I cannot sum it up in words, only visuals. Here's the video produced by yours truly that I hope gives off the amazing vibes that were at the event!

The day after the event, the people back at Kerry's had a huge after-sesh. It also marked the saddest part of any event, the "post-event-depression" if you will, having to say goodbye to the good friends you had such a great time with. We went for a nice lunch together, and this was where he waved goodbye to Ross (Blosom), Thom and Eddie.

Post-Lunch-Sesh

After the lunch session and the farewell, Me, Danny, Xi, Tom and Callum headed back to Kerry's house for the final sesh before heading home. Here's what I got!

We had an amazing time, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank Kerry for hosting the event! I hope to see you all at the next one!
